The Hills Run Red DVD: Review By The_Fallen_One

Now I'm beginning to realize all the best movies are going straight to dvd,ESPECIALLY in the case of horror flicks!This one is pretty cool,nowhere near perfect and hindered by a multitude of things but as a horror fan whose love of the genre continues to be tested I just HAD to appreciate what it did right.This movie kicks off with a creepy little opener in which a kid mutilates his face with scissors in front of a mirror while a little girls voice sings "hush little baby dont you cry"pretty terrifying right!From there we meet our characters led by Tad Hilgenbrick who played Stifler's brother in American Pie:Band Camp and that guy in Lost Boys 2.....shudder.......who is on a mission to find and doc*ment an off the radar horror flick hailed to be the scariest thing ever!Can you guess what its called?Yep..The Hills Run Red.So our hero scouts out locations from the movie and hunts down the director of the film's(who also mysteriously vanished)daughter now turned traumatized,heroine addicted stripper who is FINE AS HELL!Now I wont be crude fella's but yes you see the goods and they are GOOOOOD!lol ladies dont hate me I'm a slave to your feminine wiles.She helps shine some light on the mystery as she was involved in the film when much younger and so we begin to believe that this may be much more than a movie!The killer introduced here is as creepy and iconic as any of your favorite slashers and his name is baby-face a mutilated f*ck who hand grafted the top half of a baby dolls face to his own.....yeah thats as creepy as you just imagined.The gore is plentiful and over the top and there are numerous pretty interesting kill scenes for all us sickos to enjoy.I wont tell you too much more about the story cause it is sorta twisty but if your interested already check it out!Now lets discuss the hinderances I spoke of earlier.Budget is a big one as always with these movies but if your like me sometimes it adds a homey touch to the flick,but there ARE alot of well realized and well executed effects!The lead character is not a good actor,if youve seen lost boys 2 you know this already....but in his defense he is trying harder here and it shows.So good for him there may yet be hope.Neither of these things ruin the movie and its still a sick and twisted ride through familiar territory,but on different terms!
