This is a nother review you may not want to read if you have not seen the movie. Some movies make you laugh, make you think and some even make you cry. "Marley & ME" is one such movie. It is a saga of the most incorrigible dog ever. Shortly after the honeymoon of John and Jennifer Grogan (Owen Wilson) and (Jennifer Aniston) they decide to buy a puppy. They went to a farm to look at some puppy's Jennifer falls in love with one of the newborns, the owner tells them that it will be three weeks before they can take the puppy, but that the one they are looking at is actually cheaper than all the rest. They call the puppy their clearance puppy. Both John and Jennifer write for Newspapers, John does a little article while Jen writes huge columns. When Jen gets an opportunity to go away for a few weeks to write a big story she takes it. John thinks this is the right time to get the puppy. John's best friend Sebastian (Eric Dane), is also a newspaper writer, he moves on almost right away. He gets one big story after another and one day asks John if he wants to help him write the story. John says that he and Jen are trying to get pregnant but up to now have not been successful.Soon he will find out that Jen is now expecting . John starts to write a article about Marley for the paper, Arnie Klein (Alan Arkin) loves the little articles and wants to make it a regular feature in the paper. John's popularity grows right along with Marley. Right from the day John picks up the puppy he begins eating things he shouldn't. We see how Marley gets his name, how he goes through everything in his path. We see that lightning and thunder scares him.Marley runs through a screen door, eats furniture, pulls his walker down the street, and when John and Jennifer take a mush needed vacation, Marley terrorizes his baby sitter. We begin to fall in love with Marley right along side the Grogans, when their first son, Patrick (Nathan Gamble) is born, they slowly bring Marley to smell him, we see their trepidation and fear, why not Marley has eaten most everything in the house. When they have their third child, Colleen (Lucy Merriam) Jennifer starts to get a little fed up with the repetitive nature of Marley, after Patrick is knocked over, Jen demands that John get rid of Marley. Of course once she settles down and relaxes she admits that Marley is as much a part of their lives as any one of the kids, Marley gets to stay, Then the inevitable starts to happen, Marley is getting older, he is having trouble climbing the stairs. One day John finds Marley collapsed outside and takes him to the vet, he finds out that Marley suffers from a life threatening condition, his stomach has turned around. He gets through it, but we're warned it could and most likely will come up again in the future. There is a third child born into the Grogans family, Conor (Benjamin Hyland), is the middle child, he seems to love Marley more than any other child, when Marley suffers the same condition a second time the vet tells John that she tried to fix it the same way as before, but nothing seems to be working this time. This is probable the saddest thing to watch, Marley was so full of energy and life that to see him put to sleep touches the hardest of hearts. The family has a little funeral for Marley, right in the back yard, the children all say touching goodbyes, John closes the grave and puts rocks on it. Too anyone who has los a pet,you all know what this is like. For this very reason you should let you kids watch.Loosing a pet is never easy but this will let them know what is instore.Hard as it may be the end will always come. Any dog owner who has went through this will be moved to tears, still this is a very good movie, you will laugh until you cry, then, you will cry. I give Marley & Me a 4.5 out of 5.You may want to think about letting you kids see this movie, but they have to learn that there pet are going to die sooner or later and like Ol Yeller this movie will teach them about life.

Yeah the dogs in Marley and Me were great... I don't like Owen Wilson. Jennifer Aniston had her moments but overall the only part I really connected with the actors on was when the dog was nearing the end, and they realized it. My old guy is on his way out at the moment and it really struck a chord. I thought Owen Wilson handled the scene where Marley bites it, very well. (@ Vampire2000 - I think that the reason for that is: If you are a dog person, that animal is not an animal. Its life is way shorter than yours and that awesome bond that you develop with your canine is unmatched by most human relationships that you have in your life. Your dog will always be there for you, will only hassle you for love... well.. and food of course... and is the only member of the animal kingdom that really, really would prefer to be friends. Movie makers realize this and make the films accordingly. The scoundrels!)

Not enough dog for me. I liked the dog, could not care less about the other two - Aniston and Wilson. It should have been titled 'Me and Marley' for the amount of time the dog is in the frame. Wilson's character was a bit pathetic, *bleat bleat I want to be a reporter not a columnist * *bleat bleat again, now I am a reporter I want to be a columnist again*. Boy was he a bit annoying or what? Aniston was Aniston, no disrespect but she seems to have one mode of acting - she is the same in everything.

The dog was great, not a dog person more of a cat person, but thought the acting ability of the dog(s) was far superior to any of the human performers.
