THE GOOD
The cooky Madea is back causing a ruckus, actin' a fool, shootin' up folks and getting a brief term in the big house.
THE BAD
Featurettes are really long and a bit redundant but worth watching.
THE FEATURE
This is where it all started. Madea (Tyler Perryin Drag) on stage. Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail is a comedic look at Madea's trip to the big house. But Madea is always there to gives her blunt advice and moralistic wisdom to friends and family. A story in which the characters learn about letting go of old relationships, healing hearts, and forgiving.
Tyler Perry is known for his clean comedy. If you watch his plays or films you'll notice cursing is not present which makes most of his work very family oriented. He does an outstanding job of emphasizing the sense of family and family values no matter what type of family you have (single mother, foster family, single dad, raised by grand parents).

The Magic of Madea/ The Making of Madea Goes to Jail
Another long featurette with candid interviews with the costume and props director, tour manager, tour accountant, Sound director, Perry, fans more. While the process of how Perry becomes Madea is not filmed the costume director shows the body suite. Perry wears.

THE VIDEO
Full Screen - 1.33:1. Perfect as full screen because it helps you feel as if you are in the theater actually watching a play.
THE AUDIO
Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround with English and Spanish tracks and subtitle options. Actors wear microphones, which enhances the sounds but you do see the mikes in strange spots at first in the play but you soon forget and reassert your focus onto the story and acting.
THE PACKAGE
Sporting a silver wig and orange moo moo and silver cuffs, Perry is dressed as Madea smiling behind bars. On the back is Madea with a more serious look sitting before a special features list and plot synopsis.
THE FINAL WORD
As Perry's other work, there is a spiritual Christian overtone in this play but if you are not Christian don't let that stop you from watching this. It is very accessible and funny for not only the family but for all races. Plus, you have to see the craziness Madea gets into in this play. It will be worth the cheek cramps!
