Let me start out by saying I know I am in the minority liking this movie as much as I do. I think it is a movie you either love or hate and I happen to love it. I am a fan of both Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz so maybe I am biased in my opinion, but it became of my favorite films after only one viewing.

I do admit the film is not without its faults, but the look created and the attention to detail by the director makes up for all of them. Another thing I like is that it has a little bit of everything, drama, romance, interesting characters, religion, good vs. evil, demons, angels and of course the devil. I never read the comic so I really did not have any expectations or anything to compare it to. But I had read a lot of bad reviews of the film prior to seeing it so I was fully expecting it to be a below average film. But it was just the opposite, a truly entertaining, visually appealing movie. The actors were well suited in their parts and all gave good performances. And yes I thought Keanu Reeves gave a good performance too. I am not into over analyzing actor performances but even watching the film and doing just that, I still found all involved were good and memorable and I especially enjoyed Djimon Hounsou’s part.

Constantine may never be considered a classic film and I do not see a sequel in the future, but it is a film with a decent story, good special effects and enough action to keep it exciting throughout. As I said before I know I do not have the popular opinion, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes. If you do not like the film I respect that and I am not going to try to change your opinion. But if you have never seen the film and enjoy movies with this kind of subject matter, I recommend you give it a try, you may like it as much as I did.

Thanks for reading.
