My favorite Martin Scorsese movie and one of the best movies to come out of the 70's. Robert De Niro gives an amazing performance as Travis Bickle that when you watch it you actually believe he's this crazy, lonely, angry, and most of all violent character. Scorsese's direction in the movie is very dark and edgy that you can really see just how brilliant of a director he is and how he can create some amazing visual's that help tell the story. The film is all about how Travis sees the world he lives in and how disconnected he is from the real world and all his failed attempts to live in the real world make him go into his own and act on the things he does. The gritty look to NYC gives us the idea of how much travis hates it and every thing from the streets, his apartment, and the porn theaters make it worse for him. In the end the shocking explosion of violence is very brutal and realistic and not at all over the top or cartoonish. The film noir look to the movie adds another cool layer to the movie there are a lot of shots that look like they came out of a 30's film noir and the music is also very film noir and very beautiful. This is a film not a mindless piece of crap movie this is a pure work of art and every one should see because its that good.
