THE FEATURE
Having seeing Nothing But Trouble for the first time during my vieweing of this DVD, I can say I was pleasantly surprised. Chevy Chase, star comic of the 80's, plays the typical Chevy Chase-esque role. Good looking, successful rich guy, on a quest to get the untouchable girl. The untouchable girl, played by the pre-implanted Demi Moore, decides to go on a trip with Chase's character. Of course, in true 80's fashion, tags along a foreign couple, in which every stereo typical cultural spoof is played upon.
During their trip, the group find themselves being pulled and hauled in front of the judge (Dan Aykroyd) by career cop, John Candy in a small town that still abides by the rules of old. This is where the film turns for an extremly wacky, but delightful surprise. Right when you think the production on this film couldn't get any worse, the audience is sucked into the world of this small town's legal system, where the court house acts more like a funhouse. The cast is tortured, mauled, and mangled as they try and escape from this carnival of craziness.
I immensley enjoyed the performances of all the characters, but especially that of John Candy and Dan Aykroyd who both play multiple roles in the film. For instance, John Candy plays a gigantic beast of a woman, who is mute, and tries to tie the knot with Chevy Chase.

THE EXTRAS
Making it's way to DVD in 1998 as a Warner Bros. release you can definetly see the progression of the DVD format and the marketplace over the past 4 years. With absolutely NOTHING fancy going on in this DVD, from the dull, lifeless studio logo menu, to the very unattractive navigation system, this DVD feels very dated. With such a feature-less DVD at hand, you might as well own a VHS copy of Nothing But Trouble. If Warner Bros. ever saw a profit from this title, I'd say it's time for a revamp.
THE VIDEO
The film is presented in good old pan and scan. The transfer fairs pretty well, but with today's technology, a re-release of this film on DVD could call for a touch up.
THE AUDIO
The audio, while not horrible, isn't very great either. We are served up an audio track in Dolby 2.0 Stereo sound.
THE FINAL WORD
This movie is a very fun ride. While not on par with many of the wacky comedic classic that came out of the 80's, this film is a unique gem. If you want to see a movie that you probably have never heard of before, which stars a top list 80's cast, buy or rent this film before it disappears into obscurity forever....that is, if it hasn't already!
