The 'Matrix' style of 'Bullet-time' cinematics overdone in one cheesy over-the-top action flick

I love action movies. I love Angelina Jolie. I don't expect much when it comes to a plot. Basically having super-sexy-hot actresses fly across the screen on shiny sports cars shooting stuff with guns is enough for me to give it a thumbs up. Then you add to the mix, the high-calibre talent of Morgan Freeman and 'Atonement' star James Andrew McAvoy and I would normally say, in no uncertain terms, that this is going to be one of the block-buster all-time great action movies of our time. However, this movie falls flat on its face. The tempo of the movie is choppy; I didn't care for the way the whole thing flowed. There are some obviously anticlimatic and chaotic portions of the plot which are not only hard to follow but riddled in as many spots as the bullet-holes sprayed into every five minutes of the screenplay. There were a couple of good parts, which I loved, for example when Jolie's character "Fox" walks into snatch "Wesley" from his mundane life. All in all, it's worth a look if you're a fan of action movies.

If you're going to give a movie overall 3.5 stars, don't give everything else five.

Anyways, I loved this movie, and you obviously did too, because you gave the feature 5 stars. I don't get your logic. Besides, it never made itself out to be anything but an over-the-top action flick

Well, I guess it's just that I tend to be a little bit harder on a movie that has such a compelling cast and doesn't deliver the goods. I mean, we're talking Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman here. Two incredibly talented and prolific members of a very exclusive club. Then you throw in the new brilliance of an up-and-comer like Andrew McAvoy and I'm sitting back, thinking to myself,

'Wow, this movie is gonna' rock.'

Then I go see it. And I get this feeling that they were in some kinda' "hurry" or something to get it out to the theathre. I mean, c'mon, the concept is nothing short of stellar. It should've been an epic piece of what an action movie can be. Instead it's just another title in the crowd. I guess I just expected more. I don't think I really gave it 'high' scores, per se, since I really only have a few movies that I'll ever give better than four stars. You're right though, it's a great movie, and worth adding to the Jolie collection, right between "Tomb Raider" and "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". Of course, those movies were actually quite a bit better, at least in my book.

Why do you score it so high to rip it apart? This movie is awesome. The over the top action is what made it great.
