Valkyrie Blu-ray: Review By movieaddict26

Another great film directed by Bryan Singer, starring Tom Cruise as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg and Terence Stamp as Ludwig Beck, that tells Germany's side of the story.

This film, starring Tom Cruise and directed by Bryan Singer, takes place in Nazi Germany during WWII. This story is based on the true story of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who is convinced he must save Germany from Hitler and those who supported his cause. He believes that the only way to save his country is to assassinate the Fuhrer and put into action Operation: Valkyrie. This compelling story is filled with both suspense and action as it exposes one of the 15 attempts by German's to assassinate their leader.

to be fair, if the actors had attempted to do German accents they likely would not have been dead on and would therefore have distracted from the story itself. I was reading another review of this film and someone pointed out that in the beginning of the film we see Cruise writing in German and we are given subtitles and then everything becomes english. It's as though we are hearing the english but really they are speaking German to one another (if that makes sense).

Good Movie, but for as much research Cruise did to play Stauffenberg his European accent as well as the others was horrible. You can't use actors from European England to portray Germans
