Legion of Superheroes: Volume 3 DVD: Review By aeinhorn

This 5-episode DVD contains the final five episodes of the first season of “Legion of Superheroes”, including “The Substitutes”, “Child's Play”, “Chain of Command” and “Sundown Pts. 1 & 2”. These final episodes range from the very funny with the somewhat lame applicants to the Legion appearing, to the deadly and moving season finale with the appearance of the Sun Eater and the sacrifice of Ferro Lad.

The great pity of “Legion of Superheroes” is that it took a while to get to the good episodes, and once they hit their stride with the five episodes on this disc (though “Child's Play” is probably the least appealing and engaging), they then switched up the formula in the second season with the introduction of the future-Superman.

The disc does probably represent the best of what the series had to offer, and if you're a fan of the show, then this is the disc to get. If this is your first encounter with the Legion, then skip over this one and track down Volume 1.
