You remember when you were very young, and either your big brother or cousin used to tease you with something you really, really liked, by pretending to hand it to you, then all of a sudden take it back, laughing. Well, that's how i felt, as i was watching this film.

For example, the phenomenal performance by Samuel Jackson, kept me into the film, but a few minutes after that, a boring scene comes on, which made the movie seem like it was taking my spirit. I wouldn't call this movie "pure junk", but i wasn't good, either.

I mean, what the hell was it? Is it the fact that Frank Miller sucks, as being the sole director of a project? Did the movie resemble, too much, of Sin City? Or, was it the fact that The Spirit's profile and characteristic of superheroism, put a sour look on my face, even though i know the character is based off from a comic book, but there are many film adaptations, that are tremendously different, from the comics. In my opinion, they should have dropped the superheroish looking thing, kept the rapid healing idea, and just make him into one bad ass detective. Last, but not least, was it just the actor who portrayed The Spirit? I mean, i've only seen Gabriel Macht in the Recruit, which i found him to be very unlikeable and smiled when Colin Farrell killed him.

On a good note, i wasn't really expecting much from this film; i only went to see it, because Jackson was in it. I wasn't disappointed on that account. If Downey Jr. got a nomination for Tropic Thunder, then Jackson should, definitely, receive one, as well.

In closing, if you haven't seen this movie already, i suggest you wait until it pops up online, unless you were blessed with a theater gift card. Hopefully, you'll go to a bargain show, which i did.

This movie was actually good but yes, it was a little cheesy, but good review though.
