After reading the book, "Lord of the Flies", titled the same as the movie, I decided to rent the movie for it on Netflix. I was curious weater the movie was as good as the book. I read the book in school and I sort of liked it. It was intesting, vile, disturbing, and just plain good! Then, I saw that the movie had an R rating, so I knew I had to see the new adapted version to it! lol. So, I rented it and watched and guess what? I liked it WAY more than the book! Don't get confused by the 3.5 stars, the only reason I graded it with that is the fact that I thought a few of the boys' acting were sort of bad and corny. But, man oh man, did I enjoy this movie. Its got all the elements from the book and even more vile scenes added! The movie is about a group of boys who crash-land on an island suring the dawn of the next World War. When they crash, all the boys create a government to help each other reach survival and civilization. But, after a few days of getting along and having this small government created, everything gets hectic. A war reigns on the boys...and I don't mean the war I mentioned before. A war between them, you could say. I don't want to give away spoilers so thats all I can really say on the plot. The movie followed the novel very well, so, I really do have to say....see this movie!

ACTING:

I don't know any of the actors in this movie so I can't give away any names. But, I can give the names of the characters in the book. The boy who played Ralph did a good job. He did a good job standing up to the leading boy, I liked him in this movie. The boy who played Piggy, however, I found to be terrible. And Piggy was a main part of the book. Piggy's acting was cheesy and just dull. That was one of the performences in the movie, however, I did not like. The boy who played Jack, my favorite character from the book, did a great job. He took on the vile and evil character and brought him to life. So a round of appalause to whoever played Jack in this movie. The boy who played Simon, the only outcast character in this movie, did an alright job. He just didn't have a big part in this movie like he did in the book so I can't praise much. In conclusion, the acting is alright. There were a few performances I found dull and boring but thats all, really, on the acting subject.

VISUALS:

This isn't very a visual type movie. Other than the way the island looked and it just looked like a normal beatiful island to me, so the visuals were an automatic five.

DIRECTION:

Not bad direction, it was alright...so I can't argue.

OVERALL:

Overall, see this. Weather you read the book or not. It is an enjoyable film that kills an hour and a half. It shows a lesson everyone can learn from and its just amazing to watch these boys survive and live in there own way.

"Every boy in this movie is good, but how far will each boy go to be the "best" of the island"...
