Dustin Hoffman’s ‘Quartet’ Trailer

The Oscar-winning actor makes his directorial debut with this indie about four retired opera singers.

The first trailer has been released for Quartet, the directorial debut of Oscar-winning actor Dustin Hoffman. The story centers on Wilf (Billy Connolly), Cissy Pauline Collins, and Reggie (Tom Courtenay), a trio of retired opera singers who perform a concert every year to celebrate Verdi's birthday. The plot thickens when Reggie's ex-wife Jean (Maggie Smith) arrives and turns their trio into an unorthodox quartet. Check it out.

Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred are in a home for retired opera singers. Every year, on October 10, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday and they take part. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva, but she refuses to sing. Still, the show must go on... and it does.

Quartet was released January 11th, 2013 and stars Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly, Pauline Collins, Michael Gambon, Sheridan Smith, Andrew Sachs, Gwyneth Jones. The film is directed by Dustin Hoffman.
