Twentieth Century Fox has set the release date for Fox 2000's Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days to be August 3rd.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules director David Bowers is returning to direct the third installment, which is based on the best-selling novel series by Jeff Kinney.

The film centers on "wimpy kid" Greg Heffley, who hatches a plan to pretend he has a job at a ritzy country club. But the plan fails and he suffers the dog days of summer vacation, which include mishaps at a public pool and a camping trip that goes wrong.

Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky are set to write Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.

Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron, Devon Bostick, Rachael Harris, and Steve Zahn will return for the third project.

Production began in Vancouver last week.
