Just hours after Ryan Reynolds hinted that the Deadpool movie is finally moving forward, following the test footage leak this summer, 20th Century Fox has issued a February 12, 2016 release date. The superhero spin-off is going up against Lionsgate's Gods of Egypt, Warner Bros.' How to Be Single, and Universal's Untitled Pets Project on its new release date.

Ryan Reynolds is starring as the title character, a.k.a. The Merc With the Mouth, reprising his supporting role in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. No story details were given, but the project is being directed by Tim Miller from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland). It isn't known when production will get under way, but it seems the movie is finally moving forward after several years of delays.

20th Century Fox also took the video game adaptation Assassin's Creed off its release date calendar. The project, which has Michael Fassbender attached to star, was originally set for August 7, 2015, but the studio revealed it won't be ready in time.
