‘Deadpool’ Has 8-Minutes of R Rated Test Footage Says Rob Liefeld

20th Century Fox is close to moving forward on a very gory version of this Marvel Mutant adventure.

Deadpool, set to star Ryan Reynolds, has been kicking around in development at 20th Century Fox ever since the character's first on-screen appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009. While attending the Arizona Comic-Con this past week, comic book mainstay Rob Liefeld spoke out about the impending Deadpool stand-alone movie, saying that it is closer than ever to moving forward at Fox. The studio has also shot a very R rated 8-minute test reel for this potential franchise starter.

Here is what Rob Liefeld had to say.

"They've got a great director on the movie, they've got a great script. I may or may have not seen some sort of test of footage that would blow your mind if you saw it and go holy crap and that's Deadpool in costume. Katana swords, guns, shooting people's faces off and making me laugh. And I may or may not have seen something that looks just like that. And you've got what would amount to the first R Rated X-Men movie. Because that script is R Rated.

They may or may not have wanted to shoot eight minutes to see how it would play. And all I can tell you, it's close. It's closer that it's even been to going, or going...Naaah, that's too scary a proposition to make a R Rated Deadpool movie...."

You can check out the video from the Arizona Comic-Con below, but fair warning, it is fifty minutes long.

Deadpool comes to theaters February 12th, 2016 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Gina Carano, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein. The film is directed by Tim Miller.

they should just release the 8 minutes online. the fan reaction would be so big that fox might just make it happen.

Just give us Deadpool R-Rated, in full costume, doing what he does best, killing and sarcasm...if Fox dumbs down another comic character, they should just hand over the reigns to Marvel Studios and call it a day

the script (if it's the same draft as the one I have) is fantastic and I can't imagine this movie not being "R". It warrants it in the first few pages...

What's with the costume? You know it'll never be used for the film if indeed it gets green lit. It would be nice, but look how he was perceived in the movie Wolverine.

@instead8909 Finally? This is the first Marvel property that warrants an R-Rating, with the exception of Punisher -- and that one WAS rated R...twice!

I say this about Sin City 2 and I'll say it about the Deadpool film: I'll believe it when I see it. Show me some actual footage or set photos.
