Date Night, the comedy starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey, was the easy winner on the home video charts this week with a clean sweep, topping the DVD sales, rentals and Blu-ray sales charts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
New release Death at a Funeral finished in second place on all three charts and last week's triple-winner Kick-Ass was knocked down to third place on all charts as well. It was a distant second place for Death at a Funeral, though, as it was reported that the Chris Rock comedy only sold 47% as many units as Date Night sold, during the week ending August 15.
Date Night completed a sweep with a win on the Blu-ray sales charts, although the film wasn't exactly a juggernaut in the 1080p format. It was said that only 20% of Date Night's total units sold were in the BD format. Second-place Death at a Funeral fared even worse in the high-def format, with only 15% of its total units sold in Blu-ray. Although it did drop to third place in its second week on the shelves, Kick-Ass is still faring well in high definition, with 41% of its total second-week sales in Blu-ray.
Date Night was released April 9th, 2010 and stars Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Mark Wahlberg, Taraji P. Henson, Jimmi Simpson, Common, William Fichtner, Leighton Meester. The film is directed by Shawn Levy.
