Danny Woodburn joins Ninja Turtles as Splinter
Danny Woodburn has joined the cast of Ninja Turtles as Splinter. We reported last week that production is currently underway in New York.

Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello), and Noel Fisher (Michelangelo) star as the Turtles, with Megan Fox portraying the female lead. It has still not been confirmed if she is playing reporter April O'Neil, or a new character. Will Arnett also stars in an unspecified role. The Turtles' friend Casey Jones has not been cast at this time.

Jonathan Liebesman is directing from a screenplay by André Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway. Michael Bay is producing through his Platinum Dunes company.

Danny Woodburn most recently starred in Mirror Mirror, and has a recurring role on the Fox series Bones. He is most remembered for his role as Kramer's friend Mickey on Seinfeld.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released August 8th, 2014 and stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Johnny Knoxville, Jeremy Howard. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

@youngrizo No, just felt it was a little bit hypocritical to the point you were trying to make...

@narrator firstly, I would like to let you know that I absolutely appreciate that thorough and well said explanation. secondly, i wasn't being completely sarcastic when i said "let's wait and see, right?"...i was just stating it's becoming more and more difficult to believe production is heading in a positive direction. I'm not a fan of Fox and Liebesman either, but as we both stated, let's wait till we see some footage. The motion-captured turtles are the most interesting aspect of this project for me.

I still stand by that belief, @justatadmatt; the belief that I can't properly judge this adaption when I have hardly any substantial information about it. As news comes out concerning TMNT, I can gradually get a better grasp on how this film is likely to turn out, and eventually make a decision as to whether or not it's worth seeing in order to know whether or not it sucks.

To be honest, this is only the third bit of news I can consider "bad" about the project, though I'll grant that it's a HUGE bad for me. How they could seemingly mess this casting decision up so badly is beyond me, especially when Eastman himself wanted the likes of Watanabe. *shakes head*

The only other two pieces of news regarding TMNT that I've seen as "bad" have been the casting of Fox in the unspecified role (likely April, unfortunately, judging by her hair job) and the hiring of Liebesman as director. Even the ridiculous rumors about Colonel Shredder and this new alien race aren't what I'd consider bad just yet, because the former idea was fully scrapped (supposedly) and replaced by an original draft by the writers of Alias, Mission Impossible 4, etc, and I've yet to see any confirmation on the direction in which the latter rumor/idea is going.

All in all... for me, there have been three concrete announcements that I've deemed bad about the project (Fox, Liebesman, and Woodburn) until I see a trailer or the final product, two things that I'm excited about (Ghost Protocol writers, motion capture turtles), and several neutrals (an unknown cast, alien turtles, etc). It's understandable that I don't have the greatest enthusiasm for this project, and more understandable that other fanboys outright hate it so far. After all, I've always said a LOT can go wrong here. Still, I'm holding out that something decent might happen, and if it fails, I'll be at peace knowing that "the bane of our childhoods, Michael Bay" will be irrationally blamed once more. ;)

How many films have been mis cast? And failed, Several, even those that have been successful.
This will fail... now with that said it's the final product that should be judged. mis cast or not lets just wait and see.

I fully agree with @youngrizo that we should wait and see... In every new article about this movie we see tons of Haters posting their "f*ck you Bay!" commets and its getting really annoying. Be patient young ones, maybe you will be surprised by the actual movie. If not, then you can go around the world and tell everyone how Bay f*cked up another movie/franchise.

Honestly never heard of this guy, but I just hope he does a good job playing Splinter. Also I really hope they choose an A-lister to play as Shredder( still hoping for Mickey Rourke) and also I hope they get someone good to play Casey, maybe Liam Hemsworth or Josh Hutcherson.

will he be doing "voice-over" (CGI splinter) or is splinter gonna be a full size suite w/ danny inside?
growing up in the 80s, my first fav. cartoons was thundercats (as my icon) then TMNT came along and it was just magical. had all the toys and would wake up every morning to watch the toons b4 school. TMN...20years later, should be a powerhouse of a movie and should not/can not be missed. regardless of who plays who.
I just hope that the action figures are made well with each counterparts from the movie. even if they happen to be 3.75 size. cause i plan on collecting em. to go with my 80s-90s.

There is nothing wrong with freedom of speech, I'm simply asking that we try to be better than most of the vile that is on the rest of the internet.

I'm not stopping anyone from practicing their right to free speech. I don't have that kind of power, nor do I want it. Is it wrong for me to ask my fellow movie lovers to ...I don't know ... discuss this stuff objectively. Just makes for a better environment IMO, but I could be wrong.

All the hate is pointless until we see the movie and if we see it and it sucks, then the talk is acceptable, right now it's just kind of pathetic.

Seriously, he's a good actor, and no he's not asian, but I doubt we will see Splinter as a human in this movie, not to mention the guy being short is to the possible strength of the casting... we have yet to see what he will look like after make up and effects are done... and then it's a matter of the writing and acting being on point.

Can we please act like grown ups? Leave the silliness to the IGN forums
