Actress Dakota Johnson (21 Jump Street, The Five-Year Engagement) has joined the cast of DreamWorks' Need for Speed.

Aaron Paul stars in this video game adaptation as Tobey Marshall, a fearless driver who joins a cross-country race from New York to Los Angeles to get revenge on his crooked partner (Dominic Cooper). No details were given for her character, but she joins a cast that includes Imogen Poots, Kid Cudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, and Harrison Gilbertson. We reported yesterday that Michael Keaton will star as the reclusive organizer of the race.

Scott Waugh is directing from a screenplay by George Gatins, based on the popular Electronic Arts video game franchise of the same name. No production schedule was given.

Dakota Johnson most recently starred in the Fox sitcom Ben and Kate, which was canceled.
