Curse of Chucky Blu-ray

Terror returns in a deceptively tiny package when Curse of Chucky, the newest installment of the chilling Child's Play franchise, comes exclusively to Blu-ray and DVD on October 8, 2013, from Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production entity of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Also available on Digital on September 24, 2013, Curse of Chucky reunites franchise creators Don Mancini and David Kirschner as Chucky returns to horrify viewers in an all-new, unrated chapter of the blood-soaked suspense saga that James Oster of ArrowInTheHead.com gleefully calls "Delightfully deadly."

Here's what Glenn Ross, General Manager and Executive Vice President, Universal 1440 Entertainment, had to say about Curse of Chucky in a statement.

"It has been a quarter of a century since fans were first petrified by Toyland's most lethal serial killer in Child's Play. Now, twenty-five years later, the deadly legacy continues as Chucky resumes his disturbing reign of terror, delivering more of the blood-curdling scares and bone-chilling twists that have cemented his place as one of the world's most legendary horror film icons."

Written and directed by Mancini, Curse of Chucky finds a family imperiled by the murderous doll that launched a generation's nightmares - determined to finish a job that was started long ago. The film stars Fiona Dourif (The Master, True Blood), A Martinez (Longmire, General Hospital), Danielle Bisutti (Get Smart, CSI: Miami) and Brennan Elliott (Flight 93, Double Jeopardy), with Brad Dourif (The Lord of the Rings) once again providing the voice of Chucky, the homicidal plaything inhabited by the spirit of notorious serial killer Charles Lee Ray.

Curse of Chucky Synopsis:

He's back! From the filmmakers that brought you Chucky comes the terrifying return of the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of a notorious serial killer. However, after her mother's mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to the ensuing bloodshed and chaos. The return of America's favorite toy, voiced again by Brad Dourif, is unrated and full of more blood-splattered thrills and chills.

Curse of Chucky was released October 8th, 2013 and stars Chantal Quesnel, Fiona Dourif, Jordan Gavaris, Danielle Bisutti, A Martinez, Maitland McConnell, Brennan Elliott, Summer H. Howell. The film is directed by Don Mancini.

@thedude1 Yeah, the reboot will hopefully get a definitive timeline and let's hope they keep following it, and no sequels end up as bad as Seed.

Thanks for the clarification of the timeline.

@crypt We will never see what happens after Seeds of Chucky and rightfully so. It was an awful movie. After the release of this next movie sometime soon they are suppose to reboot the franchise.

I'm not sure if this is a sequel to part 2 or part 3. I can't remember for sure. All I know for sure is that it takes place before Bride of Chucky.

This is going to be f*cking great, so good to see Chucky back and passing it onto another generation but still holding onto the Chcucky of yonder and of Childs Play

  4. The Cryptkeeper: Resurrected

@thedude1 Sequel to Child's Play 3 and prequel to Bride? Hm, but at the end of CP3 he got all torn up, justifying the scars and such in Bride. Oh well, I'll just wait to see it to figure out how they play it off.

And Seed of Chucky was not very good, I admit that, but the ending has kept me wondering what happens next since it came out several years ago. Haha Not a fan of cliffhangers.

@Celestialforthcoming Minus Seed of Chucky though the movies weren't bad. And it looks like they went back to the roots of the original film which is a huge plus.

  6. Celestialforthcoming

I don't know @thedude1, The original writer Don Mancini has written all of the films and directed only 'seed'. Based on that alone, there is a chance it can be a miss. Either way though, I'm sure everyone here will watch it despite the possibility. Let's hope Mancini improved over the years.

@moviemouse Yeah maybe absurd is over the top. And while most aren't that good most theatrical movies aren't that good either.

  9. moviemouse

@thedude1 wouldn't go as far to say its absurd as most of them are really horrible and that is factual, maybe i should of worded my other comment better but yeah

  10. TheDude1

@moviemouse Wow that is a completely absurd comment. You may want to actually check out more direct to DVD movies. Nowadays there are more and more that are very good.

As for making cult classics good again I agree overall however the original writer has come back to make this movie.

any interest in this went down hill since i found out it was straight to DVD because there just isn't any straight to DVD films that are any good plus they don't know how to make these cult horror icons good anymore

  12. TheDude1

@crypt This Chucky movie is actually a prequel to Bride of Chucky. And thank God they skipped over the last two movies. Bride of Chucky was pretty good but Seed of Chucky was terrible.

  15. The Cryptkeeper: Resurrected

Sucks the series turned straight to DVD. But that's not what bothers me, what bothers me is that this doesn't look like it has much relation to Seed of Chucky, plot wise...

  17. Celestialforthcoming

Chucky looks very odd in this one. In one shot he has hair longer than usual, in another his eyes are more narrow. But whatever, I grew up watching chucky and I'm going to stick to this 'till the end- Hi dee Ho, Ha. Ha. Ha.

  22. Bane5000

Now that was creepy...Atleast it seems like they are taking it back to old school horror/suspense chucky and not horror/comedy as we got with Bride and Seed of Chucky, Kudos to Mancini

@monkeyiron2-0 ...True, I wish they would've gone with an entire reboot of the Child play series. Mancini was talking about taking it back to its horror and supernatural roots of the trilogy before it got out of hand with the comedy, I think that would've worked greatly for this franchise...Heres to still hoping, if this dvd does ok, maybe we will get a reboot, u never know :]

  23. Mr.K

@monkeyiron2-0 Wrong my friend. Originally, Curse Of Chucky was supposed to be a remake/reboot to the franchise but that idea was dropped and we now have this as a sequel to Child Play's 3.

  24. Monkeyiron 2.0

@mr-k I hear that they plan to remake Chuck after this movie

    1 year agoby @monkeyiron2-0Flag

  25. Mr.K

@skywise@thedude1 Actually, it's not really CG, it's just that they made Chucky's eyes to look more "human-like" to the animatronic doll, which is kinda cool.

Also, I'm very surprised on how good this movie looks and Hell, the trailer was actually scary. So props to Mancini. Although, why the f*ck release direct to video? This should be in theaters for a anniversary celebration of the Chucky franchise.

  27. WalterWhite

@monkeyiron2-0 Exactly! Chucky never had the stitches on his face.Only reason they did that was because he got chopped up at the end of the 3rd film.I'm looking forward to it. Especially since Don is back directing/writing.I was sold when they said they were bringing him back to horror instead of the horror/comedy we have gotten.
