The King of disco. The man with a secret life. The rising star eager to get ahead. The music producer desperate for one more hit. In Montreal in 1976, they all wanted to see and be seen at the trendiest club in town, and juggled freedom and tradition, lovers and family, drugs and sobriety, fame and anonymity, in a time when excess was the norm, and disco ruled. Based on true events, Funkytown brings back the glitter, glamour and edginess of that era.

Funkytown was released October 2nd, 2012 and stars Patrick Huard, Justin Chatwin, Paul Doucet, Sarah Mutch, Raymond Bouchard, Geneviève Brouillette, François Létourneau, Sophie Cadieux. The film is directed by Daniel Roby.

I went to school at SUNY Plattsburgh right near the border to Canada. I attended from 1972-1976 and went to Montreal many, many times. This movie may just bring back some fond memories. I may have even gone to the DISCO in the movie, although the movie disco may not be an actual disco from that time period it's probably pretty similar.
