We reported a few weeks ago that screenwriter Alvin Sargent was being brought on to work on an upcoming superhero reboot script and now it seems that its down to five actors to star in the film. Heat Vision Blog is reporting that the final five candidates to star as Peter Parker in the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot are Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Frank Dillane, Andrew Garfield and Josh Hutcherson.

It was said that director Marc Webb had been meeting with numerous candidates over the past few months and it was said that while these are some of the top contenders for the role, Webb and the studio are still "on the lookout" for other candidates as well. Here's an excerpt from the site's article.

"The group of actors seems to fall in line with what Webb has been looking to do with his take on Spider-Man, which is to cast relative unknowns in a story that roots Parker back in high school. The movie will be an angst-ridden tale of a teen dealing with the knowledge that his uncle died even though he had the power to stop it."

It's worth noting that a rep for Columbia Pictures responded to the story with the following quote: ""There have been a number of names floated online and almost every week, someone calls with a new rumor. We are not commenting on the casting process or rumors such as these."

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further information on the casting of the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot as soon as we have more information.

The Amazing Spider-Man was released July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Campbell Scott. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

This is really disappointing. Personally my first choice to be Spider-Man in this reboot was Logan Lerman (Like everyone else who wanted him to be Spider-Man).

I have a feeling it's gonna be Josh Hutcherson.

Ugh at Josh Hutcherson. I'm not too familiar with Jamie Bell, but he looks like he'd make a decent web-slinger. He's got to be better than Tobey Maguire, anyway.

Even thought he is older, I think Jim Struggis from the movie 21 would make the prefect Peter Parker.

With the exception of Jamie Bell -an interesting choice and excellent actor- the rest can jump off the Empire State building for all I care.

The storyline is the same as the previous one. Not interested. I think this is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas. The unfortunate part is... people are still going to watch it and the production company will still make money. Until the people/fans do something about this, the movie companies will continue to rape the average theater goer of their money.

My own little Conspiracy Theory on the upcoming Marvel Avengers Films

Heres the thing, I recently read that Peter Parkers parents were a part of the CIA and recruited by SHIELD Agent and Director Nick Fury. This reboot is supposedly to take place during the Ultimate Spiderman Series. It is known by all fans that in the Ultimate Universe, Nick Fury was designed after Sam L Jackson who plays Fury in these films thus an implication that we are viewing The Avengers in the Ultimate Universe.

Now, Peter Parkers parents were in fact killed by The Red Skull who happens to be the villain in the upcoming First Avenger Captain America film (Played by Hugo Weaving).

Also, it is a fact that Spider-Man becomes an ample force and team mate of the Avengers.

In closing, I cant help but hope and fill myself with wishes that they somehow in some way nod to Peters parents in SHIELD and then contemplate using him in a later Avengers sequel.

This isn't from rumors or any news I heard, just something I figured out for myself and HOPE it happens.

    But yeah LERMAN!

I would rather sit and watch a movie based on the life of Pee Wee Herman then spend money on a crappy idea od as reboot that is being done here on spiderman. 3 was not what we as fans wanted, but if you look at all of them as a complete work, they still have room to grow and make improvements for a 4th and 5th movie then scrap and go reboot couse of Batman was done so well. The only main issue to date that this particualr Spiderman line did wrong is exactly what was messed up in the origianl Batman movies. They killed most of the villains off, so no chance of a cameo, or a re-introduction for a later movie.

  22. Marcusx

this doesnt even make sense. all of these actors are over 20 and then we get Josh Hutcherson who is 18 years old and looks like a cross between the Zack and Cody Kids and the Two and a Half Men Kid. God damn it, this movie is going to blow if any one of these "Rumored" actors confirm to play the Wall-Crawler. Please god no, let it be L2! ( Logan Lerman )

  24. Movie_jedi

too rite N8byrne... they should try reading a few comics before casting this role, none of those actors have the rite look for peter parker, they're terrible choices! i was growing on the idea of Lerman playing parker, he'd be alot better than any of those guys! personally i think Thomas Dekker should be offered the role.

  26. N8byrne

Are you serious... Are you really going to flush one of the best franchises down the toilet? Lerman was better than any of those guys. One of them was a Brit. Give me a break. Get you heads out of your butts and read a few of the comics before you cast this role.

  29. Spideyfan

sony and marc webb reconsider LOGAN LERMAN. He and Anton Yelchin are the only young actors who could give this sorry reboot idea a shot in the arm. You passed these guys over for a lackluster list of actors who are either too old. charisma-less, menacing, cold, too brit and too short. With Lerman you had a chance to go up against Bat 3 now you lost whatever fans were willing to give this a shot with a Logan casting. Good luck just won't be in the cinema to watch this
