About Rocket Raccoon
" Rocket Raccoon acts as the "Guardian of the Keystone Quadrant", an area of outer space sealed off from the rest of the cosmos by the so-called Galacian Wall. Rocket is captain of the starship Rack 'n' Ruin, and he and his first mate Wal Russ (a talking walrus) come from the planet Halfworld, in the Keystone Quadrant, an abandoned colony for the mentally ill where the animal companions were genetically manipulated to grant them human level intelligence and bipedal body construction for many to become caretakers of the inmates. Rocket was Halfworld's chief law officer ("ranger") who protected the colony against various threats."
Guardians of the Galaxy comes to theaters August 1st, 2014 and stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, Lee Pace, Glenn Close, Karen Gillan. The film is directed by James Gunn.

Have they officially stated that the entire movie is going to be animated? I haven't read/heard anything about that. I mean, I can imagine Rocket will be CGI and stuff but... animated?

This is not going to be animated because the villain is supposed to be Thanos and it will lead into the Avengers 2 where the Guardians will banish him to Earth and join forces with the avengers, so it would be stupid if it was animated. It will just be part CGI because it would be to hard to give a real raccoon orders and have a walking talking tree.
