Director Peter Jackson updated his Facebook page today to talk about how The Hobbit won't be coming to Comic-Con International this year.

"Good news and bad news today. Bad news is that we won't be doing any The Hobbit presentation at Comic Con in San Diego this year. New Line and Warner Bros were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early. There's so much more of the films still to shoot. I just wanted to get that out there, because I've seen various references to the possibility of something Hobbity at Comic-Con. Hate to disappoint anyone. But something tells me we will be there in force next year.

Now for the good news...

We've just finished a new video blog, covering a little more of the first block of shooting. So please enjoy this-at least you don't have to travel to San Diego to see it!

I've been on the go since wrapping the first shooting block, but I'm about to settle down and get into the much delayed 20 Questions. I've a few half-written and will get those done very, very soon! I promise!

Cheers,
Peter J"

@Zak-F -- I hear "X-Men: First Class" was a great film, and when I realized he was the director, several months ago, I have since been excited to see it.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx i hear you man...i was sickened to the idea of him bailing it for X-Men, though now its got a studio congress and appraisal the studios are going to give him a fair share of money...though the uniqueness about KickAss is the low budget but is impassive scale.

@Zak-F -- I tried, but I love "Kick-Ass" too much to lower the bar, I can have faith, can't I? I don't want to think about there not being a sequel to "Kick-Ass", really.

gotta lower you expectation a bit on Balls Against the wall, M. Vaughn is working on a fantastical film as of this year for a Christmas release next year , a book adaptation or what ever. Also it wouldn't work, KickAss was created via side by side, now the comic has been released in issues over here, Vaughn doesn't feel free, or too verge on it, also there's no official accuracy to keep that wall up of it happening. Though The Dark Knight Rises is the top of my agenda, along with this and Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance.

@Zak-F -- I'm definitely looking forward to it, but my anticipation is too much towards "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", "The Dark Knight Rises", and the possibility of "Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall", too even hype about this one.

@theDude_Abides: I have the Lovely Bones but I have yet to see it so I can't really say anything about that yet. I must disagree with you about PJ taking credit for District 9. Other than District 9, all Neil Blomkamps done has been Nike & Gatorade commercials and a few shorts like Yellow and Alive in Joburg (Which eventually became D9). His animation skills is what stood out and Peter Jackson found him and partnered up for the Halo movie. After things fell through with that PJ went ahead and suggested they take a look around for something else and wound up looking at Neil's work and voila they came out with D9. So not only did PJ bring Neil up in the industry, he also gave him a chance to truly bring one of his projects to life. All Peter really needed to do is hook Neil up with the right people (Most importantly WETA) and let him do his thing.. the only Credit PJ got was as a Producer and rightly so

It's good to see this man has his head on straight after going from making the atrocity that was Lovely Bones, to placing his name all over Neil Blomkamp's movie, essentially taking credit for the damn thing, to this. Right move.

Let's be serious, who gives a sh*t wether or not we even get a trailer with only some dark background, theme music and a Hobbit logo in it? Noone, we'll still be camping outside of every damn theatre too see this film. It wont dissappoint, it can't. It's like gravity.
