Robert Rodriguez says Predators 2 is a "Go"
"[The studio] said, 'Let's do some other ones. What other story ideas do you have?'" says the filmmaker. "Because it was like, let's test out the market with this one. They really wanted it to be pretty contained, pretty scaled-back. They didn't want to put too many of the ideas into it that we could save for a second one. So we could see what the appetite was, because the bigger movie would actually be what comes following that. That kind of sets up a new storyline, new location and world, and then you can really go crazy from there."
According to IGN, Rodriguez says he has "an idea" of what he will do with the sequel. The next step, he says, is probably to have other writers come in and pitch different versions of his basic premise, along with new concepts. And then, as with the first Predators, he'll pick the best one. As for whether or not he would direct the sequel...
"I don't know," he laughs. "I think I have too many people wanting me to do Sin City 2 first!"
Predators was released July 9th, 2010 and stars Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo, Louis Ozawa Changchien. The film is directed by Nimród Antal.

this is good news. i saw predators a few days ago and thought it was great. so i'm up for a sequel. i'm glad to see that they're finally back on the right track with these movies. bring on predators 2!!!

Predators is a direct sequel to the original Predator movie, totally ignoring Predator 2 with Danny Glover. I think they plan on keeping it that way.

Hmmm. This is about more than one Predator - so if it was about ONE Predator they could call it Predator 4. But it isn't. It's about a whole mess of 'em, PredatorS, so therefore PredatorS 2 is correct.

I loved Predators but for me, as a screenwriter, I feel it's a bad idea to hold off on good ideas. Put them in the first film (if they work and fit) don't worry about a sequel. Make the first amazing and if it is still strong make another one.

Im all for a Predators 2, i think they need a better cast selection next time around though. I think RR will do us proud. And if he was happy with how Nimrod directed Predators then i say keep him, if not move on to someone who can make the next one bigger and much better.

I didn't see anyone calling it Predator 2, they call it Predators 2, as in a direct sequel to Predators, which just ignored Predator 2. It's just something we'll call it for the time being until an actual title is released...like Batman 3. You really think it'll be called Batman 3?
