Whedon will have no trouble with this movie. It's a story about a team of superheroes, which is basically a bigger version of Buffy, not to mention that he worked on arguably the best run of the X-Men in the past 15 years.

im not that impressed with his credentials outside of serenity... would rather see Favreau get the job

i tend to view whedon's works as enjoyable but not that great, so uh... yeah.
    good luck with that.

i did like his comment ""It makes no sense, these people shouldn't be in the same room never mind the same team. To me, that's the definition of family."

Angel and Buffy aren't that good and if I'm not mistaken the only good thing he has done is Firefly but I am not big buff on Mr. Whedon soooooo......

I think he has the passion and vision to carry this off, but I worry that the Capt America and Thor movies might blow...making this a harder proposition.

Even tho i was and am still a huge fan of Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Serenity idk about this choice. He has great vision and great directorial capabilities i'm just not 100% sure how it's going to transition into this type of a movie, because it would such a stretch for him. However, i will be the first one in line to see if he can settle my worries.

    And @Monkeyiron really?....lol i'm not being a dick i promise.

Wait? Joss Whedon? Who is this talented, innovative man you speak of? Angel? Buffy the what-slayer? I'm sorry, I've been contained on an alien planet for the last hundred years, or maybe my mom dropped me as a child...I can't remember...;P

I rented Serenity; I haven't seen it since its original release. Never got into Buffy, but I had a friend who absolutely loved it and would often strap me to a chair, tape my eyelids open, and press play. Honestly: not bad. I believe in this situation, we'll just have to wait and see, but as this is a huge powerhouse film, I doubt the studios or Favreau will let any harm befall it.

@Insert: Thanks for reminding me about Norton. Douche. Evening ruined, thank you very much. ;P

Buffy and Angel were both great shows. I was upset when Angel ended, I always wanted to know what happened next...
Serenity was a very good movie imo. I think whedon will do better then obv most people are expecting.

@Monkeyiron, I like how you gave Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Haunted Mansion five stars each, but then call Angel stupid. That's...something.

@HighCaliberINC, Those two shows you call lame combined for twelve seasons and over 250 episodes. Plus, as I mentioned before, Serenity was critically praised, as has Whedon's work in comics. If that's not enough for anyone, there's this little piece of information: Whedon was a co-writer on Toy Story. Now, none of this proves he will be an awesome director, but it does demonstrate Whedon's great ability to tell a story.

I don't want to trample on peoples excitement...I am definitely anticipating this movie myself...but can those huge Joss Whedon fans use something other than Buffy and Angel to back this guy up?

I just don't get how you can use two lame shows to sell him as an awesome director.

Well as I said before, the guy is talented, but I'd really prefer if this movie was in the hands of someone... more familiar with silver screen success.

Watch Angel on TNT, Monkeyiron. That will give you some insight into Whedon's world. As for Abrams, do Alias, Lost, or Star Trek sound remotely familiar?

Dude, what do you expect? You don't come on a movie website and ask who Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams are when you're on the computer anyway and can just search their names...not to mention you should know who they are, anyway.

You're only 15, so I guess it's sorta kinda understandable, but still...hasn't pretty much everyone in our age group seen Star Trek...or at least heard of Lost or Buffy the Vampire Slayer? lmao
