SDCC 2010: Jeremy Renner Is Hawkeye in The Avengers!
Marvel's The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

Great news. Jeremy Renner is a great actor. Loved him in The Hurt Locker and glad to see him getting other big roles. He deserves more roles and recognition.

I would say money, but that wouldn't make sense given the $$ they must be shelling out for the cast already involved.
I mean, how could you have a problem with Ed Norton and his "issues", if you're throwing around the name Joaquin Phoenix as a replacement?
