SDCC 2010 EXCLUSIVE: Thomas Jane Talks DC Showcase: Jonah Hex!

Actor Thomas Jane is best known to fans for his role as Marvel Comics' anti-hero the Punisher but it was DC Comics' Western anti-hero Jonah Hex that the actor really wanted to portray on the big screen. In fact, the actor was such a fan of the character from the comics and wanted to play the lead role so badly that when he heard about the film being in development he put on the character's signature make-up and costume and took photos that he used to campaign for the role. While the part ultimately went to Oscar nominee Josh Brolin it was probably a blessing in disguise for Jane as the film was a mitigated disaster and could have made him unavailable to shoot his hit HBO series Hung. But now the actor finally has his chance to play his favorite comic book character on the small screen thanks to DC Universe Animated Original Movies' new animated short film DC Showcase: Jonah Hex, which appears on the full-length film Batman: Under the Red Hood, now available on DVD and Blu-ray. Thomas Jane appeared at Comic-Con this year to promote the new DVD and we had a chance to speak with the actor about the animated short, his love for the character and his thoughts on how the feature film turned out. DC Showcase: Jonah Hex was released July 27th, 2010 and stars Thomas Jane, Linda Hamilton, Jason Marsden, Michael Rooker, Michelle Trachtenberg. The film is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos.

  1. Mutant

He looks like Jonah Hex, they should have hired him and not Megan. Still can't stand her.

  2. The Narrator: The Better Man

HE would have made a fine Jonah Hex. Just as well thou, seeing as how the film sucked. When it gets rebooted he should star, if its not too late.

Much rather watch Hex in animation with Jane than the film that bombed with the other guy in the title role.
