SDCC 2010 EXCLUSIVE: Patrick Lussier on Halloween 3D

While out promoting Drive Angry 3D at this year's Comic-Con, director Patrick Lussier took a moment out of his very busy schedule to chat with us about taking over the helm on Halloween 3D, his upcoming thematic follow-up to Drive Angry 3D called Condition Dead 3D, and his intent to continue shooting in 3D. Here is what the director had to say:

Halloween III is in development and stars Brad Dourif.

Condition Dead 3D was released in 2011.

    @err2005 What zombie did was beyond stupid though. Giving Michael a reason to kill is stupid. Look at what Carpenter did with his Halloween 2. He made it so that the reason Michael was trying to kill Laurie was because they were brother and sister. Since he has done that he has regretted doing it ever since. So different is not always better.

    i dunno, i thought the sequel was a suitable follow-up to the first, if you were able to view it as "rob zombie's halloween" instead of just halloween.
    rob zombie, in dismissing the "Crazy for no reason" theme of the original Carpenter series and giving Meyers a "crazy for cliche reasons" theme, made the movies his own from the beginning anyway.

    The remake of the first film was pretty good but the sh*t that happened in the second one was just too much, too over the top with all the grunting and the styles of the killing. I think Zombie did the best he could with the time he had to write and shoot the sequel. The studio told him they wanted another Halloween movie and that if Zombie wouldnt return to shoot it they would remake it again. Im not sure where they should take this franchise now. Do you start over or bring everyone back in and pull the last film was nothing but a dream kinda thing? If you start over then they should keep everything as close to the original as possible with Michael and his killing style. Id think it would be pretty cool to see Jaimie Lee Curtis camero as Lauries mom if they do decide to start from the beginning again. Oh and f*ck off with the 3-D. It isnt needed in this kinda of movie!

    She did fake her death in the old film. I still think that returning to the old series would be better in the long run.
    I liked Rob's version but it was long winded and often boring. I have no plans of seeing the second film any time soon, until it's halloween night.

    i have no idea wat he just said, all i heard was "uhhhhhhhhh" uhhhh" sumthing about happy to b with us, then poof. lol ...I have a pretty good idea how part3 will be from part2, it will b alot better than part2 was, make more sense and end quite better, like the screen going off black..indicating that part 4 is on its way. the thing i dont know is why 3D? i hate 3d im not a fan of it, but i know lots of people like em. but 3d is sumthing that would look better on jurassic park or matrix movies, not a halloween movie, so thats a minus right there, bad move.. however he will fix the errors that were made in part2, h2 looked like it was rushed, and zombie ran out of ideas so he just threw in a drift to get it over with. he should have just blew up a gas station or sumthing srrounding micheal w cops and end it there, rather than how it went. but i dunno we'll c how h3 goes. and im guessing laurie gets preg in this 1? cause isnt she jaymee's mom) and also fakes her death? i dont remeber if that happened in the old movie but we might get to c it now. how it went.

    @bane5000 If Zombie was making the movie I would say those are ideas he would be considered. But Lussier is not that stupid. He would probably have it where Michael is still alive and killing again. Or they would just reboot the franchise again, which may be a better idea since Zombie really screwed up a lot of ideas for a another sequel.

    @TheDude1...i know, thats what im saying, dont know what explanation theyll give that Michael myers is still up and about killing for some reason since laurie now went crazy too...will it be a copycat killer?...will it be laurie mystically controling michael myers thoughts now...well see

    didnt michael really get killed in the last film with laurie locked up in the loony bin...so how they gonna bring him back....that he somehow survived this second attack on him or mystically like the old movies?...kinda lame to go back to that

    Love Zombie's music and his films but maybe the music a bit more!! Thought he did a good job with the Halloween films though, solid updates imo.

    Zombie's Halloween remake was really good. His sequel to his remake was just GOD AWFUL! I am glad that he is not coming back. But the thing I don't understand is how does Lussier plan on making a sequel to Rob Zombie's Halloween 2?
