SDCC 2009: Tim Burton Set for Dark Shadows

Today at the Alice in Wonderland presentation at Comic-Con, director Tim Burton revealed that his next feature film will be a take on Dark Shadows.

The feature is based on the cult '60s supernatural TV show created by Dan Curtis. Johnny Depp has had interest in playing Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series will produce the new take on the classic series.

Dark Shadows comes to theaters May 11th, 2012 and stars Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, Bella Heathcote, Michelle Pfeiffer, Thomas McDonell, Helena Bonham Carter, Jonny Lee Miller. The film is directed by Tim Burton.

    Love the Tv show as a kid!!! It rocked....!

    BUT ... Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins ... HELL NO!!!
    Please Tim Burton go back and watch the TV show ..... I'm sorry but I'm not a Johnny Depp fan ...I still don't think the man cant act ...

    His performance as John Dillinger in "Public Enemies" was very dry ..and very wooden and lifeless!

How about Akira Kurosawa/Toshiro Mifune, Ingmar Bergman/Max Von Sydow, John Ford/John Wayne or Henry Fonda, John Woo/Chow Yun Fat, Yasujiro Ozu/Chishu Ryu, David Lean/Alec Guinness, John Huston/Humphrey Bogart, George Lucas/Harrison Ford, Martin Scorsese/Robert Deniro, Federico Fellini/Marcello Mastrianni, Ron Howard/Tom Hanks, Jean Renoir/Jean Gabin and f*ck Tony Scott, Spike Lee/Denzel Washington. There's much more obviously, but just making a point that the fact that these kinda things even go on any more is significant. So f*ck it, Burton should cast Depp in everything he does, whether it's the lead or a bit part, Depp is a big part of his whole style as a filmmaker and vice versa.

    Good idea for a next project! I wonder how Burton will jack this one up too? Not sure his "signature" look will work for this feature. we'll see.
