"I'm thrilled that I finally have the opportunity," Mr. Jackson said in an e-mail message. "Neill is a tremendously talented young director, and he's made an extraordinary film, so it was important to me to come to San Diego to spread the word." He added that attendees will be in for "quite a ride," but did not elaborate.
Directed by Neill Blomkamp, and set for release on August 14th, District 9 depicts a fictional world where extraterrestrials have become refugees in South Africa.
Do you think fans will be questioning him about the upcoming Guillermo del Toro-directed Hobbitfilms he's producing? I'd say so. Hopefully we get some juicy bits from this year's convention.
District 9 was released August 14th, 2009 and stars Sharlto Copley, Jason Cope, Nathalie Boltt, Sylvaine Strike, Elizabeth Mkandawie, John Sumner, William Allen Young, Greg Melvill-Smith. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to theaters December 14th, 2012 and stars Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.
The Hobbit: There and Back Again comes to theaters December 13th, 2013 and stars Ron Perlman, Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Doug Jones, Kiran Shah, Billy Connolly.

The Narrator: The Better Man
I so wanted to go this year. If I knew he wazs going... grrrr.
Pumped for District 9, and the Hobbit....
However I hope the studios get their act together. I know their afraid of all the money size of production and effects, and all that, that will have to go into making it, but maybe after they see Avatar, and see that a 300 million movie can do it(I hope it does), they will back it once more. And if so, PJ should direct.

What I'm wondering is whether or not Neill Blomkamp intended to shoot Halo "doc*mentary" style the same way that he did so with District 9 and the Halo 3 short films he put together for the Halo 3 release? If so I am kind of glad it was cancelled because Halo is one film that definitely DOES NOT deserve to be shot that way! It needs to be filmed "traditionally"!
Anyway, that aside, I am very much looking forward to District 9, I have a feeling it is going to be one of those films that blows people away! Blomkamp certainly seems to have some skill and I am anxious to see how it translates onto the big screen for his feature film debut.
Now they just need to get Halo back on track......and done right, because Halo is one of the few video game adaptations that could be a masterpiece!!!!
NO DOC*MENTARY STYLE FOR HALO!!!!

It will be interesting to see if he hints at all that District 9 is in anyway related to Halo.
