COMIC-CON 2012: ‘Ninja Turtles’ to Bring Authentic Fight Sequences Says Kevin Eastman

The original creator of the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ calls this one of the best films yet, comparing it to ‘The Raid: Redemption’.

Ninja Turtles promises awesome fight sequences!
Ninja Turtles promises awesome fight sequences!
There are legions of fans who still adore Kevin Eastman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated TV series and the original comic books. Many of those fans have expressed dismay that the new Ninja Turtles reboot is tweaking too many aspects of the turtles, especially with the new alien origin that producer Michael Bay revealed back in March.

Well, Kevin Eastman traveled down to Comic-Con this year to put fans' minds at ease, claiming that it's the best movie in the franchise yet!

"From what I've seen, it's easily the best Turtle movie yet. We're talking The Raid: Redemption-style fight scenes. We're talking about epic Rise of the Planet of the Apes sort of effects."

We reported back in June that Pararmount pushed the release date from Christmas Day 2013 to May 16, 2014, because the studio wasn't happy with the screenplay by André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum. Kevin Eastman confirmed that the release date shift was not due to the studio's unhappiness regarding the project.

"A lot of people are worried we pushed the release date from December to May, but the 30th anniversary of the Turtles is in May, so it worked out perfectly."

He also responded to the negative outcry over "Teenage Mutant" being dropped from the title, revealing he is embracing the change.

"I know that Michael and his group really like that and that Paramount was supportive of that, so I think that it's great. I grew up reading 'Captain America' and 'The Avengers' and all that stuff, and over the course of the comic book history, since 'Avengers' has been around, how many times has it been reinvented, reformatted, restructured, replatformed? Every person that's grown up inspired by that material wants to put their stamp on it a little bit. It just keeps getting better and better, and to have that opportunity is pretty awesome."

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released August 8th, 2014 and stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Johnny Knoxville, Jeremy Howard. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

That's a badass comic book pic but regardless, this news isn't going to help this crapfest of a movie. Laird & Eastman ruined TMNT when they sold the rights off to Nickelodeon. On the 30th Anniversary. I still can't believe they sold out. And where the Foot is the proper 2003 series season sets? Bastards.

    How about Kevin Eastman... www.shutthef*

Considering the project has been delayed a variety of times and the synopsis is technically Transformers in the TMNT universe... Not impressed and WHERE THE FOOK IS THE SHREDDER.

Who really wants to see KRANG, Bebop & Rocksteady?

HA, watch it. I live with my mom still but I do have a life in the field. It's not every day I work and I sometimes wish I did.

Not all fanboys are that way. The ones who sit home, never get laid and still live with their moms, they are hard to please. Some of us are capable of going in there with an open mind!

Lies. ALL LIES!!!. This will be one of the worst movies of all time!. Does anybody ever care about the director?. Did anybody see any of his films?. NO?!. Not even Battle: LA?!. Whatever, that director is going to destroy everything unless a different director is chosen. F**K JONATHAN LIEBESMAN AND ALL THE LIES FROM THE PEOPLE INVOLVED WITH THIS PROJECT!!!. Best movie yet?, more like worst thing to ever come out of Hollywood's ass!.

Bay is only a producer, @Michael-Kolesik. Not the films director, writer, or primary enforcer. He's just happens to be the biggest name attached to the film, and happens to influence some of the film's direction. Not quite screaming RotF just yet, but if it does start showing signs of that, I'll be one of the first to acknowledge it.

No matter what anybody says, this movie is being trusted to the man who made "Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen." Anybody remember that? Or did everyone just conveniently forget?

@phatalphd@cupid -- Fan boys and fan girls are - by far - the most annoying fan bases. They're impossible to please, and bitch and moan about little, insignificant things. Needless to say, I agree.

If he holds true to the fight scenes being like The Raid: Redemption, I will be a very happy man.

Please, just make this movie awesome... The Avengers and Nolan's Batman franchise are examples of proof of what can happen if you just follow the comic book!!! So don't mess this up!!!
