Guardians of the Galaxy confirmed for August of 2014
Earlier this month, it was rumored that Guardians of the Galaxy was going to be announced as the mystery movie taking up the August 14th slot on the Marvel Studios release calendar. Today, during the Iron Man 3 panel, Marvel confirmed this news as fact!

The film will be animated, and follows an alien race who journeys to Earth to protect the planet from an upcoming attack by their enemies, another alien race known as the Bardoon. There is no further information about the movie at this time. It was believed to tie-into The Avengers 2, but because the film is animated, it is unclear how those ties will pan out. It is also unclear if Pixar is at all involved in the film.

This is the fourth movie that Marvel Studios currently has in various stages of production. The other three titles include Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2.

We'll be sure to update you as more news breaks from the Iron Man 3 panel going on right now at the San Diego Convention Center.

Guardians of the Galaxy was released August 1st, 2014 and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan. The film is directed by James Gunn.

Wow, this article is like nine different kinds of wrong.
    The release date.
    The plot.
The fact that it's not animated.
    The team lineup.

    So sad.

    @cupid - Very true indeed.

Hope its not animated, but if it is? Well make it look like The Adventures of Tintin (film) that would b cool, but more realistic.

@playhouse Okay, i found it and it says on there that it'll be in live action, which is actually a good thing in my opinion and i am glad it is going to be in live action, because if it were to be animated then that would totally suck if it were to be animated and would be a bad choice on there part, meaning who ever it is that will be making the movie.

@Number1Wolverine Ok, you make a good point, not all are bad, but even the best cant compare to DC animated movies.

Well I really hope all of you saying Marvel confirming a live-action movie is true because I'm really pumped for this. Hoping it's not animated, but excited to see it either way.

Hey, all. Marvel confirmed on their live blog of the panel that 'Guardians' is live-action not animated.

Boo! I agree with you @daveactor7, this would have made such a great live action flim. GOTG could be another franchise that ties into The Avengers, plus
It could take off where Green Lantern came up short, and that's exploring the cosmic world of space.

@cupid - Not all Marvel animated films suck, Ultimate Avengers wasn't that bad.

An animated intro would make more sense, but if they pan to cross over with Avengers 2 or 3, then, you get what I mean
