Christopher Nolan is in negotiations to direct Interstellar, a sci-fi project written by his brother Jonathan Nolan. Steven Spielberg was previously attached to direct, but it is unclear whether he is going to be involved at this point.

The film is based on a scientific theory by Kip S. Thorne, a Caltech physicist and virtuoso on relativity. The story centers on a group of explorers, who travel through a wormhole.

The deal will be set up by Paramount, though both Paramount and Warner Bros. will produce the project with Lynda Obst. Negotiations have been underway for months and are being described as very complex.

Christopher and Jonathan Nolan have worked together on The Dark Knight films as well as 2006's The Prestige.

No production schedule has been released.

  1. Interstellar Movie

I think this film could establish him as a great if he gets it right. So far there isn't a single blemish on his directorial record, but this project sounds like it will be his biggest and most challenging to date.

I love this. I know Spielberg was originally attached to direct and I thought it sounded very intriguing but I really think this fits Nolan so well and he can do something incredible with this.

That would be awesome to see him get into sci fi films, could end up being a close encounter of the 3rd kind kind of film

@photoman wow have you not watched hs movies closely, wheather you like the story or not you cant argue his talent. watch 'the prestige' or 'memento' or try rewatching 'inception'. you are probably one of the people that thought 'avatar' was sooo good, which it wasnt but thats another thing altogether

Maybe the most overrated director of our time, along with Tarantino. Inception - overrated, The dark knight rises - overrated....
