@slysnide Prometheus is actually doing pretty well. Official weekend box office numbers just came in, and actually made $89million domestically so far, and worldwide right now its at $217million. By this coming weekend it will obviously reach way over $100million, and by the end of its run it'll probably make between $120-$130million. Its getting beat by Madagascar3 because of kids and of course Prometheus has that R rating, but other than that its doing pretty good, it stayed at #2 and made both Tom Cruise/Rock of Ages and Adam Sandler/Thats My boy flop.

@slysnide -- Worldwide, you mean? Otherwise, I don't think we're looking at the same article.

"Prometheus" isn't doing so hot. Can't believe "M3" is beating it.

    @bawnian-dexeus -- That's a big possibility. I'm going to do some research.

@basquat -- I don't usually look up budgets, but yesterday I read how "Rock Of Ages" and "That's My Boy" flopped. After looking up the budgets, "That's My Boy" made little-to-no sense. To the point, I looked up "Jack And Jill", which claimed around the same budget(as you pointed out). Both movies star, and were produced by Adam Sandler. Susp*cious? I think so. Finally, something we can both agree on!

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I know it's crazy. Jack and Jill was 70 mill too, and it's certainly not up there on the screen. Most of that money is going in his pocket. The man is a con artist:-)

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx You think Sandler pays himself?

@basquat -- How could you spend so much money on a comedy with such low-quality? "Kick-Ass" had the budget of 28 million, but "That's My Boy" has the budget of 70 million? Am I missing something?

@bawnian-dexeus -- I'll be sure to watch all of those movies.

@basquat Dunno, but they have 6 zeros no doubt.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx FOr me, has like 3 good comedies and the other are serious acting like Reign Over me and Funny People. Click had a sad moment which surprised the hell out of me in its third act. Enjoyed it with my dad despite its mixed reception.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx That's the great Sandler hustler. All his movies cost about that, and all his friends are always in them. I wonder what their paychecks are

@2movieguys -- Yeah, too bad "Prometheus" wasn't more like "Aliens Vs. Predator - Requiem". A movie that not only contained a better script/characters, but edge-of-your-seat intensity. Your standards are so high!

@bawnian-dexeus -- Eh, I doubt it. I've only seen a few of his movies, mainly when I was a kid - so I don't remember how good or bad they were, I just remember watching "Big Daddy" and "The Wedding Singer" a lot.

I read (Wonderwall) Adding insult to injury: "Madagascar 3", the animated animal-themed kiddie flick, netted $35.5 million this weekend -- more than Adam Sandler's "That's My Boy" ($13 million) and" Rock of Ages" combined.

@jasonkat personally, i think will ferrel does the same schtick as well. same tone, same over the top excitement, same type of characters... dim witted that really dont know that they are. i enjoy his work definately more than adam sandler, but it really is comparing apples to apple sauce... different form but still the same routine.

Anywasy, saw Rock of the Ages and it was a 50/50 for me. Glad to see Madagascar and Prometheus neck and neck. Obviously kids would reign supreme, but good enough to see them at the top

"Rock Of Ages" wasn't to bad...B- for me.! I would say the film was camp cult classic in the making! I loved Hey-Man and Tom Cruise!.

I thought "Prometheus" didn't live up to the hype.! It wasn't suspenseful or even existential..! At times through the film I had to fight sleep ...!

A bad sign for a film buff!

@ghostman -- I just took a look at the budget, and this movie might flop. Rightfully so! Where did that $70 million go, any way?

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx You don't get it do you?

"This is the reason why Adam Sandler continues to make movies, and never flops." Clearly coming in at 5th place earning 13mil is a flop was what i was saying. Either that, or you mean that Sandler never flops because he keeps making movies.

@corey -- Oh, and to answer your question, it's because of Adam Sandler, the silly premise, and dumb jokes. The trailer pretty much summed it up, and have you seen the percentage on Rotten Tomatoes?

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Slow your roll there, Little Nicky. I meant no disrespect. My comment went toward everybody. There really is never any need to bash a movie when it releases. The movie is gonna release no matter what so why hate on it so much? Especially without seeing it.

@jonspidey07 -- Which movie(s) would you like to dominate box office instead?

    3 years agoby @XxNickTheFilmCriticXxFlag

  27. Nicholaus XX

@corey -- Negative? There's nothing wrong with being negative towards a movie that will has a 90% chance at sucking balls(my apologies). Bitchy? I'd like some elaboration, there. It might help a little, but it shouldn't help much. Just because one of my favorite actors is in a movie, doesn't mean I'm going to like/enjoy it JUST because their in it. That's just me, though.
