One of the many things fans are looking forward to in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is the Beorn, a human/beast shapeshifter that appears in J.R.R. Tolkien's novel. The first photo of this character has been revealed on an SD Toys calendar that shows the creature in his human form, sporting one gigantic mullet while out chopping wood. The image quality isn't exactly great, so hopefully we will get to see a better photo of this character very soon. Check out the photo, then read a passage from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel where he describes Beorn.
"Beorn was of immense size and strength for a man, and retained his size and strength in bear-form. He had black hair (in either form) and a thick black beard and broad shoulders (in human form). While not a "giant" outright, Beorn's human form was of such great size."
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was released December 13th, 2013 and stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ken Stott, Graham McTavish, William Kircher, James Nesbitt, Stephen Hunter. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.
