Ben Affleck Denies That He Is Directing ‘Justice League’!

The actor-director claims he is not working on this DC Comics epic superhero adventure, calling it a rumor to fill space.

It happens all the time. A big name actor or director is rumored for a high profile project. Shortly there after, they deny it. And then, a couple days down the road, the initial rumor is confirmed. It's the Hollywood way, and it seems to be happening with DC Comics juggernaut superhero epic Justice League.

Earlier this month, director Ben Affleck was rumored to be Warner Bros. and DC Comics' number one pick after The Dark Knight Rises' Christopher Nolan turned his nose up at it. Shortly there after, Ben Affleck's camp denied the rumors. Now, we have his direct quote about the whole scenario, in which he blames sites like ours for perpetuating false information.

"I'm not working on Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that's how rumors get started. Justice League sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on."

This, of course, is all hyperbole, and stories like this are usually thrown out there to throw off the scent of what's actually going on. Its still very possible that Ben Affleck is directing this long-gestating superhero adventure. Do you want to see him at the helm? If not, who do you want to see directing Batman and Superman for the first time on the big screen together in Justice League? Zack Snyder? Jonathan Nolan? Richard Donner? Bobcat Goldthwait? Let us know!

Justice League Part 1 comes to theaters November 11th, 2017 and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

It,s funny... they have been putting articles up here for the last 5-6 years... and after all that time people still have the same opinions about it as they did before... It fun to read through all the articles at the hate people have for their approach to JLA

@balanorange and besides the site never said he was directing it, just that they were eying him... silly Ben Affleck...

I think the damn film should not be made... The only reason it is getting made is because DC wants to compete with Marvel... God your getting your money almost as high with Batman alone and now your doing Superman which will probably do the same... why not make your solo films first and when they work think about JLA... god DC This is why Marvel beats you! It's not just because they are better than you, you bury yourselves on top of that as well....

@shuabert You hit the nail on the head. DC has no idea what they are doing. Which is why if they wish to go the reverse way, they need to plan ahead and work hard to make JLA a hit. If they make it play out like GL, it's over

@smallville@the-movieghost@Joshua-Hollaway -- Jonathan Nolan should definitely helm this one. That would be the absolute best choice.

My first choice would be Jonathan nolan and my second choice would be Richard donner

guillermo del torro would be a good one... he can handle this kind of action movie! and there wasn't much directing from him lately...

The latest rumor is that they're shopping this project to the Wachowskis, which could be pretty cool in my opinion.

@Robert-McDougal The idea is that they'd be doing JLA in the opposite way that Marvel did Avengers. They would start with a group JLA film and then spin that off into individual character films if it was successful. That way they would only risk one film performing poorly rather than 3 or 4, since (with the exception of Nolan's Batman movies), DC hasn't been able to make superhero movies that make money in the past several years. Superman Returns was successful, but the studio marketed the hell out of it and expected it to do so well that it was considered a disappointment even though it wasn't.

@Robert-McDougal I'd think that 2022 would be way to far. But yeah, maybe 2016 would be more likely.

@themoviefanatic I'm pretty the least it'll come out is December 2016 but I expect it to be released in 2022.

@Robert-McDougal I don't think Jusice League of America is coming out to theaters until 2015. It might even be a later year then 2015, that Jusice League of America will be released.

Richard Donner directed the first Superman movie and it was awesome so he is my 1st choice for Justice League director.

good, Ben is a great director and should not put him self through the trouble of doing a movie like that for DC, I loved Chris's batman movies and am looking forward to man of steel but I don't think Justice League will ever become a live action movie and Green Lantern sucked

@Joshua-Hollaway@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx That is indeed head-scratcher. Now if he'd have added another "director" in there somewhere... It'd be Inception-worthy.

Why are they talking about a Justice League movie when Man of Steel is so far away and there are no confirmations of any other solo JLA member movies like Wonder Woman or Flash?
