With the Blu-ray and DVD release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier on September 9, directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo have recently been making the press rounds again for this Marvel Phase Two adventure. The filmmakers are already hard at work on the sequel, Captain America 3, which hits theaters in less than two years, on May 6, 2016.

There has been speculation that Captain America 3 will be the last movie to feature Chris Evans as the super soldier, especially since Steve Rogers handed over the Captain America mantle a number of times in the comics. After Tony Stark essentially "retired" his Iron Man suits in Iron Man 3, many have wondered if Captain America 3 will be the last time fans see Chris Evans as Cap.

While Anthony Russo wouldn't say for sure if Chris Evans will be ending his run as Captain America in the sequel, he did offer a few hints in his interview with MTV.

"It is a hard question to answer because it gets to the specific of where the narratives are going. I will say this: yes, for satisfying storytelling, you want a beginning, middle and end. That's the natural arc that we all thrive off of in narrative. The great thing about the Marvel universe, just like the publishing, it's a very vast, inter-connected universe, where characters will have their rise and fall, so to speak, and hand off to other characters. As the cinematic universe moves forward, you may start to see the cinematic universe adopt that same pattern, as the publishing has, where there's closure with some characters and new beginnings with other characters. How those hand-offs are made is always part of the fun."

Chris Evans is under a six-film contract at Marvel, so if a new Captain America is introduced, what does that mean for The Avengers 3? If Captain America 3 does introduce someone new to the shield, it's possible that Chris Evans will only be making a cameo in the sixth and final film in his contract. Or he simply may appear as Steve Rogers sans the red, white and blue uniform. It doesn't sound like the filmmakers have a definite plan in place quite yet for what happens after Captain America 3.

In a separate interview with Movies.com, Anthony Russo revealed that fans are going to "freak out" when they learn about some of the new characters popping up.

"We just got another incredible draft from the writers and are very excited about the film. I can't divulge who is going to be in the film, but I think the fans are going to freak out when they hear about it."

Anthony Russo also talked about how Cap and Winter Soldier's relationship was never resolved, which could spill over into the Marvel Phase Three adventure.

"The relationship between Cap and the Winter Soldier was never resolved at the end of the last movie. Thinking about where that relationship can go is a piece of the puzzle for us for sure. That character is a wonderfully, beautifully tragic figure in the sense of is he the world's most feared assassin or is he the world's longest serving POW. Is he innocent by reason of insanity or the equivalent of it because he's been mind controlled or is he irredeemable? Is he ever going to be acceptable to Cap again as the friend that he used to be before he was the Winter Soldier? These are very philosophical, emotional questions that pique our interest and definitely form one layer of the next movie."

We reported earlier this week that another Avenger, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, may be suiting up for Captain America 3, but the brothers wouldn't confirm his presence, or if Scarlett Johansson will be back as Black Widow.

"As far as where else we want to take the character, we just want to keep moving Cap forward. We wanted to push the character forward into the modern age with The Winter Soldier, and we want to keep pushing the character forward. We always want to be true to who Captain America is, but we want to surprise people about where he can go and what he's capable of. That's about as specific as I can get about where we might take him."

In yet another separate interview with Collider, Joe Russo revealed that production on Captain America 3 will start this April in Atlanta.

"We shoot in the spring, April I believe. We'll be in Atlanta."

When asked if they would only shoot in Atlanta, Anthony Russo had this to say.

"No it's not an all-Atlanta shoot, it's a lot of stage work in Atlanta. There's other locations that are also involved that I don't think we can get into."

Joe Russo wouldn't comment on what other locations would be used, but he did say that most of their stage work will be done in Atlanta.

"Typically you go to Atlanta, you do your stage work, and then move on to locations after that. So there's various locations."
