We attended a screening of Titanic at the Arclight Hollywood theater on Monday night, which also had a Q&A session with producer Jon Landau after the film. While we already reported on plans for Titanic's impending 3D re-release and Blu-ray release, Landau also talked a bit about what will be next up for Cameron as well.

While Cameron is producing the upcoming remake Fantastic Voyage, he will only be producing and won't be directing the film although, Landau said, Cameron is, "very much a part of the development process." As for what Cameron will direct next, two familiar candidates were mentioned, as well as another not-so familiar candidate.

"I think an Avatar sequel is a possibility, I think Battle Angel is a possibility. I think, on the smaller side of things, we're developing a story on the life of Pipin Ferreras and Audrey Mestre. It's called The Dive. It's a love story set above and below the ocean waters. So I think it will be somewhere in there."

We last reported on The Dive way back in February 2006, and it was said at the time that Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) was writing the film for Cameron to direct. The film would center on the true story of freedivers Francisco "Pipin" Ferreras and Audrey Mestre, both world-class freedivers - who try to dive as far as they can on just a single breath of air - who were also married. Mestre died in 2002 on a free dive where she was trying to break her own world record.

We'll be sure to keep you posted if we hear any more details about The Dive or any other project James Cameron might be boarding next.

Titanic was released December 19th, 1997 and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Gloria Stuart, Bill Paxton, Bernard Hill. The film is directed by James Cameron.

Fantastic Voyage is in development . The film is directed by Shawn Levy.

Avatar was released December 18th, 2009 and stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, Giovanni Ribisi, Michelle Rodriguez, Laz Alonso. The film is directed by James Cameron.

Battle Angel is in development . The film is directed by James Cameron.

Avatar Sequel would be good and so would Battle Angel, but The Dive sounds extremely boring.

I'd rather see him do Battle Angel, especially since I believe the world can survive without an Avatar sequel.

I hope he finally gets to Battle Angel. I have no interest in a Camereon directed "The Dive."
