Universal Pictures has acquired worldwide distribution rights to By the Sea, which will be written and directed by Angelina Jolie, who is also starring alongside husband Brad Pitt.

We first reported on the project back in May, which marks the first time Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have starred in the same movie together since the 2005 action-thriller Mr. and Mrs. Smith. By the Sea reportedly centers on a couple's relationship, but no specific plot details have been released.

Here's what Angelina Jolie had to say about working with Universal Pictures again, the studio that is distributing her second directorial effort, Unbroken.

"I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna (Langley) and the entire Universal team as I finish Unbroken and begin work on By the Sea. They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker."

Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley had this to say in her statement.

"Angelina continues to showcase her extraordinary storytelling abilities in front of and behind the camera and we are thrilled to extend our relationship with her on By the Sea. Angelina and Brad represent two of Hollywood's brightest talents and we are excited to be a part of their collaboration on this powerful piece."

Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will serve as producers, although it isn't known when production will begin. Angelina Jolie's Unbroken hits theaters on Christmas Day.
