A new poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 pays direct homage to the classic storyline found in issue #121 of The Amazing Spiderman comic book and its cover. This particular yellow cover teased the death of a major character. 'Someone close to Peter Parker is about to die! It's someone he cannot save! But who? Who?' This plot arc turned out to be the most startlingly unexpected turning point in the web-slinger's entire history. How could he possibly go on after being faced with this almost unbelievable death? The more important question is, will the movie follow the comic book? Or will we get an unexpected twist fans won't ever see coming?
As many know, it was Gwen Stacy who died in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man Issues #121-122. It became a watershed moment in the superhero's life, after Goblin kidnapped Peter Parker's girlfriend and threw her off a bridge during one of their battles. Emma Stone has been seen wearing the iconic 'death' wardrobe portrayed in the pages of this Marvel classic, but that doesn't mean her card is being called anytime soon. Its very likely that director Marc Webb will set up the death as we know it, and give us a twist at the very end. Let's just hope Gwen doesn't walk away from the bridge incident alive, only to be hit unexpectedly by a speeding bus minutes later. That would be pretty lame. But it's highly plausible in this world of reboots where artists feel like they have to keep fans on their toes. Will Emma Stone be back for The Amazing Spider-Man 3? Or will we get one heck of a cliffhanger?
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was released May 2nd, 2014 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Felicity Jones, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb.
