Aaron Taylor-Johnson Confirmed as Quicksilver in 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'

The actor almost didn't take the part due to his 'Godzilla' publicity schedule. He will play the super fast brother of Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch.

Be he Mutant or Avenger? Either way, Quicksilver is definitely going to be portrayed by Kick-Ass 2 star Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The actor has been confirmed to play the Marvel Mutant in Joss Whedon's upcoming sequel The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Though long rumored, Aaron Taylor-Johnson almost didn't sign on for the part due to his Godzilla publicity schedule getting in the way. According to sources close to the production, he has since worked out his hectic schedule, ensuring his availability for this Marvel Phase Three adventure.

Marvel had no comment.

Likened to the DC Comics character Flash, Quicksilver possesses super human speed. Real name Pietro Maximoff, he is the offspring of Magneto and the brother of Wanda, aka Scarlet Witch, who will be portrayed in The Avengers: Age of Ultron by Elizabeth Olsen.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson won't be the only Quicksilver heading to the big screen in the near future. In a rare instance of Marvel property crossover, the character is an X-Men as well as an Avenger, which means he is shared by both Disney and 20th Century Fox. Director Bryan Singer cast Evan Peters to play Pietro in next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Its not yet known how different the characters will actually be in both projects. The Avengers: Age of Ultron is not allowed to refer to Quicksilver as a Mutant, nor are they allowed to reference Magneto. But if the subject of 'father' comes up, most fans will know who is being talked about.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson previously made his mark in the superhero world playing the title character, aka Dave Lizewski, in the original 2010 Kick-Ass and its 2013 sequel Kick-Ass 2.

Avengers: Age of Ultron comes to theaters May 1st, 2015 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

Fox, here's a tip: Stop being douchebags and let Marvel use Quicksilver. Marvel made Quicksilver, they wrote him, they own him.
So stop your freakin' tempter-tantrum and get over it. AT LEAST sign a cooperative deal with Marvel, for Christ's sake.

here comes the Inhumans of this universe, what next? Wolverine, then in that case Fox needs to give back the mutants to it's rightful owners.

Good choice, he matches quite well with Elizabeth, but I'm not sure if this pair will have chemistry with the rest of the cast, I guess these two will have a similar edge as Loki though.

Before Andrew Garfield was cast as Spider-Man I'd seen him as fitting of the role as Peter Parker. This may be perfect casting wise although I'd probably much rather see him as Barry Allen.
