Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has signed on to star in Miramax's The 9th Life of Louis Drax, joining Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan, who was cast last month.

The story, based on Liz Jensen's novel, centers on a psychologist (Jamie Dornan) who begins studying a young boy after a near-fatal fall. The doctor gets drawn into a complex mystery that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality. Aaron Paul is playing the boy's father.

Alexandre Aja is directing from an adapted screenplay by Max Minghella, which marks the actor's screenwriting debut. The director and writer are also producing alongside Tim Bricknell and Shawn Williamson. It isn't known when production may begin.

Aaron Paul took home his third Emmy Award for playing Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad last month, and he also voices a role on Netflix's animated series Bojack Horseman. On the big screen, the actor most recently starred in Need for Speed, and he will next be seen in Exodus: Gods and Kings, Triple Nine and Fathers and Daughters.
