Following this summer's return of Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in the Fox event series 24: Live Another Day, the 24 movie is getting closer to happening.

Imagine Entertainment, the production company run by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, are "kicking around a new feature idea," a take that Imagine chairman Brian Grazer is "particularly keen on." The pitch hasn't been taken to 20th Century Fox yet, and it isn't known if they already have a writer attached or not.

Last month at Comic-Con 2014, 24: Live Another Day executive producer Jon Cassar revealed they are "still talking" about making a 24 movie, but it wasn't clear how if they had an idea in place or not.

However, it's possible that the movie plans may be complicated by the Fox network's possible plans for another 24 mini-series. While a 24: Live Another Day follow-up isn't officially in the works, Fox Networks Group Chairman Peter Rice hinted in July that Jack Bauer may be back for another series.

"I loved this year's season of 24. I've always been a fan. We haven't had a specific conversation about it coming back yet, but I'm sure we will in the future. It's a wonderful franchise. When you look at the show itself, it has many more stories to tell. I think we need to sit down and talk to the creators."

Before 24: Live Another Day moved forward, an earlier version of the 24 feature was in development for quite some time, with Antoine Fuqua attached to direct. The project was put on an indefinite delay back in March 2012, and Antoine Fuqua himself revealed that the movie was dead back in March 2013.
