No, CBF, it's really both a prequel and a reboot. Remember this is Bond's first mission as a 00, which makes it a prequel. And it's in a different time zone which also makes it a reboot.

Who cares about the books? 3080, Timothy Dalton left on his own. Yes, his contract was on it's way to expiration but after the long wait. He didn't want to do it anymore. The story is different for Craig. He just has a big workload now and it's going to take some time. They can wait for as long they want for Craig because his contract are by amount of movies not by years in the franchise.

Hard Boiled was very story driven. Sure, it was action packed but story made that movie.

Dave, there are more explosions and action scenes than there is story in Mi2 than in any other Woo movie.
